Hi together,
I'm from Germany, so if you find any mistakes, please keep them. ;-)
The QWERTZ (german layout) layout disappointed me for a while now, but I did not know that there are a lot of alternative layouts for a more fluent writing style.
As I have to type both English and German texts, I was searching for a layout that allows me to write in both languages without big disadvantages.
The Dvorak layout fascinated me, but it isn't useful for German texts.
So I tried to design a layout which I want to share with you.
Hopefully someone will use it like me, I'm open for any hint to improve it further.
I call it "Wengman", from Walter and ENGlish and gerMAN. ;-)
Here it is:

As you might have noticed, I have used the "Alt"-key to access most of the special characters, like brackets, dash or colon.
Personally I'd prefer a keyboard as the Maltron one, as I don't need a space key that spans 5-6 keys.
Please let me know what you think about this one.
Regards,

Inch and foot marks are accessed with Alt & left quotes. This is setup for a kinesis keyboard where it ranks (with limited testing) better than dvorak, colemak and maltron. Is could be adapted for a regular keyboard by changing the quotes for inch/foot marks, and not using thumb shifts. Goals included easing pinky load and the right hand (mouse abused) load. |
